Angela Reese is seeking the Republican nomination for the Special Election in the 59th State House District to utilize her skills and carry on her late husband Mike’s good work serving our community, helping families and upholding our family values.

“Ever since we were married, Mike and I approached everything in our lives as a family: whether in our jobs, as volunteers in the community, or even just deciding the weekend plans, it has always been about family. With my children and extended family 100% on my side – I am proud to run for this seat to continue the good work Mike has done for our community. The kids and I were very much a part of everything that Mike did, and we want to continue to serve and help everyone who calls our area home.”

Born and raised in southwestern Pennsylvania, Angela’s story is like so many others: graduating from public schools and then working various jobs to help pay her way through college. A graduate of Shippensburg University with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, she started her professional career in the insurance industry where she worked to help people through some of the most stressful times in their lives. Today, Angela is the full-time Business Manager for St. Florian Church where she also supports the Faith Formation and Youth Education programs. In her position, she has been instrumental in keeping the parish on sound financial footing using proper accounting procedures, detailed record keeping and transparency. The balanced budgets that result from her efforts allow the church to best serve its parishioners and community. Angela’s proven financial skills will allow her to serve the people of the 59th District as she works for fiscally sound policies and budgets that protect hard working families and retirees.

“Throughout my life I have committed to being an honest, ethical, and hardworking person who can be trusted to stand up for what is right, and I believe that is what I am known as today. That same commitment is exactly what I will bring to the job of State Representative. I will focus on making sure the children of our region have the same or better opportunities than we had growing up in western Pennsylvania; and I will carry on Mike’s fight to enable our small businesses to earn a living, for parents to be able to watch their kids participate in their school functions, for our families to have access to good paying jobs, and to ensure the integrity of our election process in the Commonwealth.”

Mike and Angela were married in 2002 and raised their three children Addy, Michael and Claire in Mt. Pleasant where Mike was born and raised. Despite the financial hardship it created, the couple decided it was important for Angela to put her career on hold to raise their children prior to enrolling them in school.

“Mike and I decided it was important for me to be at home with our kids when younger, and it was the best decision we ever made, and I would not have done it any other way. Every sacrifice we made during those days was more than worth it. Many families are making similar difficult decisions, especially during the pandemic. I will be a strong voice for our families and seniors, and I will fight for their jobs, less taxes and our shared values here at home and in Harrisburg.”

An active volunteer in the community, Angela has given her time and effort to improving her local schools as Secretary of the PTO Board, to helping families as a volunteer minister for fifteen years, and as a youth sports volunteer. Her faith has always been an important part of her life and Angela shares the conservative values of our community, including being pro-life and strongly supporting the Second Amendment.

“I am so amazed and humbled by how this community has taken care of us. I want to carry on the passion to serve that both Mike and I shared, and I am running for the opportunity to continue working to ensure Westmoreland and Somerset counties remain a great and safe place to live, work and raise a family.”
